Hawaiian Koa Wood Hand-Turned Plate

This is a Hawaiian Koa wood turned angled dish, medium-sized and numbered #728. This piece is 10" wide and stands at 1 1/4" high. It has a small foot, exposed bark, and the termite holes have been left intact. It is deep reddish and brown with unique curls and rich figured grain that is consistent with Koa wood characteristics. It makes the perfect candy dish. Harvested on the slopes of Mauna Kea and once reserved for only monarchs, this handcrafted Koa wood bowl will grace your home with the warmth Hawaiian wood art brings to any environment. This handmade heirloom is unique, branded, and numbered.

Dimensions: 10" Wide X 1 1/4" Height, 1/4" Approx. Wall Thickness

This Hawaiian Koa wood bowl was hand turned by KoaWood Ranch founder Craig Villarrubia. He was part of the entire process, from painstaking cutting the tree to preparing the branch and blank, before placing it on the lathe for shaping. The piece is finished with Danish oil and wax. Craig's work reflects a contemporary take on the traditional Hawaiian Koa calabash bowls.

Large Wood Plate

This was a gift to my grandniece who now lives in Hawaii. She was so excited to receive the plate and is using it to display shells she collected while diving. She said it is something she will keeping treasure forever because of its beauty and deep connection to Hawaii.

That's music to our ears, what a lovely story. The Koa wood plate was one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing :)
