Hawaiian Koa Wood Turned Bowl

This is a Hawaiian Koa wood turned bowl, medium-sized, and numbered #907. This piece stands at just about 2 1/2" high. This deep golden-brown Koa bowl reflects the unique and rich heritage of the Koa tree's characteristics. It has a beautiful hole and bark intrusion that is surrounded by wood grain curls. Harvested on the slopes of Mauna Kea and once reserved for only monarchs, this handcrafted Koa wood bowl will grace your home with the warmth Hawaiian wood art brings to any environment. This handmade heirloom is unique, branded, and numbered.

Dimensions: 7" Wide X 2 1/2" Height, 1/4" Approx. Wall Thickness

Local Big Island artist Erick Loos painstakingly turned this wood bowl from wood that was sustainably harvest at the KoaWood Ranch. The piece is finished with Danish oil and beeswax.

All wood used comes from trees at the end of their lifecycle or that have fallen during storms. We never use wood from living trees.

My Obsession

I love everything KoaWood Ranch produces and have drooled over the photos for a while. I had planned to visit their shop in person but it never worked out. I ordered a Koa bowl off the website and when it arrived, I got giddy. I opened the box and felt the love of care as the packing was beautiful, stately and effective. When I pulled back the protective bag, the bowl shimmered ! Koa is like a gem of woods but the craftsmanship in this piece sent shivers through my body. I will be adding to my collection and am honored to own a piece of art.
