Koa Wood Bowls and Vessels

After discovering the beauty and rare nature of Koa in 2013, artist Craig Villarrubia was inspired to learn how to work with this exotic wood. He was serendipitously given a lathe. He spent every available hour learning to turn wood and improve his craftsmanship. Time alone on the lathe and the process of transforming logs into Hawaiian art became a very zen and spiritual experience for craftsman Craig Villarrubia.

Each completed Koa wood bowl is personally harvested wood from the Koawood Ranch. After rough-turning a Koa bowl to about an inch thick, he lets the wood dry for several months. Then, he remounts the wood on his lathe for a final round of shaping and sanding. Each piece is buffed and polished to create a beautiful one-of-a-kind Koa wood heirloom.

*We are grateful for the support and purchases of our Koa wood bowls. There is an active demand and we are making every effort to keep up. We aim to refresh and load new inventory monthly. Stay tuned for more.
