Hawaiian Koa Wood Turned Calabash - Large
This is a large Hawaiian Koa wood bowl #811. This piece stands at 3 1/4" tall and approximately 11" wide. It has a traditional non-footed shape. This deep blonde and golden brown Koa bowl reflects the unique and rich characteristics of Koa wood. There are beautiful grain patterns and swirls that run throughout and it has a natural branch intrusion on the side of the bowl. Bowls of this size are rare, in part because of the lack in availability and the costs of Koa wood blanks.
This handcrafted Koa bowl will grace any home with the warmth that Hawaiian art and tropic decor bring to any environment. This handmade heirloom is unique, branded, and numbered.
Dimensions: 11" Wide X 3 1/4" Height, 5/16" Approx. Wall Thickness
Local Big Island artist Erick Loos painstakingly turned this wood bowl from wood that was sustainably harvest at the KoaWood Ranch. The piece is finished with Danish oil and beeswax.
All wood used comes from trees at the end of their lifecycle or that have fallen during storms. We never use wood from living trees.
